Something to Show!

I haven't been too well & going into work has proved trial enough for me. Ronda has been on a cruise & so we took a small break from the Time minibook. I am now waiting on ink for my printer before I can complete the two pages but in the meantime I have made this Inspiration book.
It started life as these.......
They were cluttering my home & taking up valuable shelf space. So I got to work with my scissors chopping them up. The rubbish got recycled & the rest were turned into this book. Here are a couple of pages. It was fun to do & very easy. Now I have a handbag sized book of inspiration instead of a whole shelf of tired looking magazines.

Paper is BG Scarlet's letter. Bound together with my BIA pages are 4x6".
I am now making another called my Dream Home & it will only feature images of how I really want my home to look.

Nigel

This is a very old page now, but I am posting it as it features Nigel. He passed away in August 2004 & today would have been his birthday. He is never forgotten. I couldn't find this photo of him on the computer so it was easier just to post the layout & it is one of the best pages I have ever made.

Good Luck Card

My card making skills really are in trouble nothing works but as a colleague of mine handed in her resignation yesterday, I had to make her a Good Luck card. I'm fortunate that she is a girly pink, bling kinda gal so I didn't have to work too hard to create something with these BG Sultry papers.
Of course while I was at it I made a girly little something for myself. I love the papers & want something I can keep other than a page in my scrapbook album. I hand cut the frame & it's a bit wonky in places!

For my girly something I used a piece of gorgeous heather pink bazzill (which doesn't show here in the pic) 12" long x 4" high folded in half along the length to make a 4" x 6" card. Then each end of the two 6" lengths was folded in 2" to create a triangle which once decorated, was taped one ontop of the other forming the base. The scallops were cut using a corner rounder. I used Shell Pink Rangers paint dabber to colour the BG chipboard bookplate. Flower was given to me & the brad is Papermania or Making Memories (can't remember which I have soooo many!! I have a brad fetish) All edges dark brown Catseye Chalk ink.

Happy Father's Day!

Rather red faced this morning when I came to blog this earlier & realised I hadn't taken a photo of it!! So Dad took the photo & emailed it over this morning. I had to share as this is the first card I've made in two weeks!! The stamp was free on the cover of a mag. Papers are Crate, Avenue.
So HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD. As the card says Take it easy!

Week 16 Time minibook

This week's fabulous prompt from Ronda is Summer. I loved how she made her page & as it is a favourite technique of mine I copied & used it for this page too. I wanted a warm sunshine background to go with this excellent gel sticker I had in my stash. Then I ran into trouble as I didn't want to cut up any of my photos & my printer is almost out of ink. So I used a bit of creative genius & cut out a fab photo in one of my Home interest magazines. You see, I knew I bought it for a good reason. I just love the zingy colour of the BBQ. MY flowers have frosted lace stickles for the centre. This mini is great because it goes beyond the boundaries. I feel quite happy to use alternative images to convey my feelings & it still reamins very personal. The picture works far better than any shot I have as it sums up the word summer for me perfectly. Sunshine, beach, long bright days & eating al fresco.

I have done quite well this month with my finances & other things & decided to break the 4 month stash diet & treat myself to things for the future. I have planned out items to put together for mini kits for those inspiration moments & a few more raw materials to use in the way of paints & blooms. 3 boxes arrived this morning & this is what was in them all. Looks so much better all in the one box.
Gave me a huge smile & a fluttery feeling all morning & I shall enjoy stroking a few before they find new homes in my newly re-organised stash!

Time to Create

These are the double pages for week 15, Create in my Capturing Time minibook. It's an old photo of a layout in progress. The layout was my Word for 2007, which is now my word for life, Happy. It was an Ali Edwards Aezine challenge that sparked off the challenge blog OLW.
I'm using the same scraps of paper here & there to keep the same theme running through this cute mini. At 4in square is adorable to work on & already looking chunky. I have used my new Perfect Pearls on the scroll under the word Create, but it doesn't show in the picture.
I'm finding Happy hard to live up to, I've had headaches for two days. All I've done is lounge on the sofa dozing. I have been sketching a few ideas as I have a Bo Bunny My Word Happy minibook to cover & decorate & some very gorgeous Kaisercraft papers to use that I bought especially for it. Well if nothing else fails, some stash cheers a girl up!! I have been on a stash diet for almost 4 months & other things are getting sorted. As I lost all the weight I deserved a treat & what better than a minibook shaped in my fav word.
People have asked me the secret to my weight loss & there isn't one. Basically I was overweight & if I wanted to lose it I had to stop eating food my body can't burn. The only way to ever lose weight is cut down.

OLW - One

One Little Word (OLW) is having it's first birthday this week so the chosen word is One. I based this page on one seen done by Francine Clouden. I like the simplicity of it & as I haven't done much work with paint on layouts, thought it was high time I stopped being such a scaredy cat & give it a go..
DecoArt blue acrylic paint. Big Wild Things, Gel-A-Tin stamps. Blue sequin waste. HS Clock stamps on acetate & alcohol inked with Rangers, stream & denim. Star metal tag, stamped using Studio G boys acrylic set (also the tiny frog above the word one) I applied crackle medium to the star. Journal block & circle around clock both HS acrylic stamps. Title, Scenic Route & foam stickers. The photo was taken by myself 3 years ago at my Step Nephew Ollie's birthday. (Ollie is the one in the red checked shirt) I was playing around with my dad's company camera & when I uploaded this to my PC it blew me away.
I decided I HAD to have that camera. Two months later I had tracked one down. It was already an old model but I did it. I have since gone on to take many fab shots, which include my sister's wedding & am so glad I persued my wish. What I love about this picture is that As we sang happy birthday Ollie's friends were also getting ready to blow too!! A real chance shot. I love my Konica Minolta Dimage Z1!!!

Wedding Layout using Bellaboo Kit

I'm truly getting my money's worth from this kit!! This is a photo I took at my sister's wedding back in October 2006. It didn't come out too good so I edited it in my photo software to give it a soft focus effect. It makes the bridal party show more while keeping the castle doorway in view.

Paper & photo corner rub on, Fancy Pants Design. Stamps, Technique Tuesday, Studio G, Stamps Away. Red Swirl, Grungeboard. Title, doodlebug rub ons & foam Craft stickers.

Another Bellaboo Kit Layout

I made this layout using more products from my kit Classic Cupid, by Bellaboo. They are more Fancy Pants Design papers. I just loved those faded stripes so much. The ribbon is threaded through eyelets, the ribbon slide was not in the kit neither were the letter stickers. The photo is my sister's cat Max as a kitten two years ago.
Bazzill, Pumpkin seed, FP Wildheart; Bouquet & Stained Stripes. Both double sided papers so the back of the gorgeous red blooms was the brown under the photo & the blue strips are the back of the stripe paper. So versatile & cost effective!!! The hearts were cut from some of the red on the back of the Wild Iris sheet I used in my OLW layout several posts below.
