Below are my two favourite items.
My Banksy design mug and mobile phone case.
I was so delighted to discover that
the girl image "Hope" was available as a stamp
from Bee Crafty and I pondered how
to use it for a journal page.
Here is what I came up with.
(Along with two other Inspired by stamps!
Not Endorsed by Banksy.)
I do love his imagery and I wanted to use it.
This page has taken me a month.
Partly because I am busy at work and tired when
I get home, and partly because I have
been busy with commissions.
The hardest part of all was keeping the image plain.
I love colour, but this needed to be dirty & grey.
I wanted the page to feel like a run down area,
the song in my head "Hallowed Ground" by Erasure
plays in my head.
This is a unloved waste area in any town or city
the weeds are covered in oil & grime
(free CS cover mount stamp by Visible Image)
The only splash of colour is the graffiti.
(Brusho in colours;
Ultra Marine/ Purple/ Lemon/ red)
Hope's dress & balloon are Hero Arts,Shadow Ink
Raspberry Jam. Wall is layers of torn paper
stamped with numbers and gesso'd.
That didn't work well so I added torn
masking tape over the top giving the aged look
I really wanted. The ground is Pumice Stone
Distress ink rubbed over gesso.
Now everyone has an opinion of Graffiti, Street Art
whatever you wish to call it. I personally love to
see some of it. I especially love the
work of Banksy.
To some it will always be Vandalism, to me much of it
is beautiful and better than the alternative
grim reality of inner city life.
And as for commissions, one is almost complete and
I have agreed to another. :0)
I thought the Wedding Album was a big one,
Well how about a possible 100 Wedding Invitations!
