Focus...

on what's important!
This is the title of the next "steampunk" style
page in my junk journal mini.
The page began as three torn tags
covered in gesso.
I added brown paper & then began to build my
background layers of colour.
Using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint,
I made glazes with Koala, Mustard Pickle,
Peach Nectar, Toffee, Twilight & French Roast.

I added gold leaf in some areas & brayered on
Dylusions Black Marble.
I added tissue stamped imagery as well as images on book text.
My focal image was stamped on card.
Stamp - Papermania
Words - Tim Holtz
Inktense pencils to colour focal image.

Sympathy Card

A quick card for my cousin, Paul, his wife, Ann & daughter, Madison.
Ann lost her mum last week.
I hate having to make these, so I think simple is best!
I just stamped the Crafty Individual - 121 Thistle text
using Altenew Crisp ink - Ultraviolet
In Altenew Jet black I stamped the two sentiments,
from the set Thinking of You.
A mix & match sympathy stamp set free with
Making Cards Magazine October 2017.
This is available as a back issue here

Commission - Get Well

This was a really quick commission
for a neighbour, Deb, who needed a quick cvard.
She provided the photo for me to manipulate.
It was for a lady that attends dog training & who
was poorly in hospital.

The black Labrador in the photo, is Paddy.
He is Deb's dog. 💓

Front - added text to her photo.
Font - Arial Narrow - size 16
Added a black frame around the image.
Matted photo onto navy card stock

 Inside - stamped
Creative Stamping - issue 63 Furry Friends

I think it took me 15 minutes.
Sometimes simple is best!

Card to send a recipe in

My sister asked for one of my recipes.
I made this card to tuck it inside.
The recipe is made up of 3 recipes so I
wrote it out in stages.
I made a multiple stenciled background using my Dylusions paints
but instead of using bright pink for the final layer,
I selected turquoise to tone down the palette
& used TCW Harlequin stencil.
I die cut a hexagon from Altenew Geometric dies
to use as a stencil. I added gesso to white-out
the centre & placed my stamped images.
These were coloured with Inktense, cut out & stuck in place.

The inside looked blank & boring so I added a
stamped background.
All stamps used were from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine 173
The card was made as a tri-fold with a short folded panel.

Another street birthday card.

This time, the card is for Georgie.
It was her birthday on 7th July.

I used original distress ink, Twisted Citron,
through the Tim Holtz Gothic (damask) stencil.
I stamped the Foxgloves first (Simply Cards & Papercraft 173)
masked them off & blended ink over the top.
I cut the card away leaving the floral as the card edge.
I added matching stenciling to the inside
along with a piece of gold washi tape.

Just Breathe

This page in my mini junk journal was
heavily inspired by France Papillon.
In particular this journal on Monday
video - 171 Brave
I wanted to emulate the texture that
France created, but using all I had.
Namely heavy gesso, brayer & PaperArtsy
Fresco Chalk paints.
This page is the reverse of the image
transfer & it was a tad fragile at the edges.
So I had adhered torn scraps of brown paper,
magazine paper & old tea bag paper in a
collage fashion (having learned from LorriMarie)
I watered down a little gesso to coat it all,
applying it heavier on the darker browns.

 I then began lightly brayering my colours;
PaperArsty Cherry Blossom,
Sugar Plum, Orchid & Pansy.
I added more gesso heavier in places & added a
frame of Spanish Mulberry using a brayer technique
Leandra had taught us in  the PaperArtsy videos.
I have several of the brayer ones in my playlist, here
I added stamping with some script images, which
I then knocked back with gesso.
I added gesso through this Circle Squared stencil
by Mike Deakin Art.
I copied Frances technique of blending Inktense pencils
around the circles as I love my Inktense.
I journaled around them & then added a
little black & grey for more definition.
Finally, as I loved the texture so much,
I just added the Prima Finnabair words.

30th Birthday Commission

This card was commissioned by Lorraine,
an ex colleague, for her daughter, Rhianne.
The brief was;
sunshine, tea, Harry Potter, otters,
squirrels, meerkats & brightly coloured.
I think I managed to fit them all in!

The box itself was made using the free die with
Die Cutting Essentials - 51.
It started life as a plain piece of white card
& I made backgrounds on each side.
I kept the inside relatively subdued, but
the outside was a riot of stenciled, Dylusions paint colours.

I made a tiny book to place the 30 on so it wasn't too "in your face"
& put two quotes Lorraine requested onto tea cups.
(Dies by Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine issue 176)

I spelt out her name using Tim Holtz Alphanumeric dies.
I was careful to use free Harry Potter images from UI-Ex.com

Fran's birthday card

Our neighbour, Fran, had her birthday

I 💓 that Sea Glass in the centre of the front bloom.

Inside, I wanted a surprise!
So I made a box of flowers.
Box & balloons - Honeybee stamps

Exotic - Mini Junk Journal

This is page 8 of the journal.
It is the reverse of Mildred,
with the cut out window & gold fretwork.
The page was covered with PaperArtsy Twighlight.
I added some lighter blue strokes in places
to give light & texture.
I then applied gold paint by Colourcraft,
through TCW Circle Doily stencil.

Because Mildred had a royal theme I wanted something equally
opulent, luxurious, exotic for this side, so felt the
blue worked with the existing gold screen.
I added this stamped Altenew Build A Flower Cattleya
in shades of oranges as I felt they matched
the golds closer than any other colours.
The words are part of the meaning I found for
Cattleya Orchids. The rest got torn!
So I added luxury & exotic near the flowers,
because this is what they represent.

Here is an image of the page showing
that the page can been seen through to the other side.
You can just see my French Gentleman
from the London / Paris insert.
